Email Developer - Business to Business, B2B, Litmus, Validity, Everest
Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Email Developer role focused on executing high-volume B2B marketing communications. If you enjoy building complex email journeys, writing clean AMPscript, and diving deep into data extensions without needing hand-holding, this 9 to 12-month consulting gig is right up your alley.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days wrist-deep in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, translating design templates into rock-solid, production-ready HTML and CSS. You'll be building out Journey Builder workflows, setting up Automation Studio queries, and writing complex AMPscript to handle heavy personalization. Expect to troubleshoot broken layouts across obnoxious email clients and run your campaigns through Litmus and Validity/Everest to make sure nothing ends up in the spam folder.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, specifically Email Studio, Journey Builder, and Automation Studio. On the coding side, solid intermediate-to-advanced SQL and AMPscript are non-negotiable because you'll constantly be pulling subscriber data and writing dynamic logic. Pair that with bulletproof email-safe HTML/CSS and testing tools like Litmus and Validity/Everest to survive the day-to-day demands of this environment.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your AMPscript logic on the spot, likely asking you to write a snippet that conditionally displays content based on a subscriber's attributes. They want to see how you handle nested IF statements or lookups without tanking performance. You'll also be grilled on SQL optimization within SFMC—specifically how you handle massive data extensions and avoid timeouts in Automation Studio. The interviewer is secretly looking for someone who doesn't just build emails, but understands how data architecture impacts deliverability.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams 'SFMC specialist' rather than just a general front-end dev. Explicitly list out your experience with AMPscript, Data Extensions, and Automation Studio right at the top. If you've managed high-volume B2B campaigns and utilized Litmus or Everest for inbox placement, highlight those metrics so the ATS flags you immediately as a plug-and-play consultant.
