Job Description & Details
This is a 6-month contract gig managing the chaotic underbelly of executive escalations and billing exceptions for Microsoft's commerce ecosystem. You'll sit at the intersection of disgruntled clients, account teams, and internal engineering, serving as the shock absorber for high-risk support tickets and out-of-policy requests.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in transition and exception requests, translating messy billing and subscription requirements into actionable steps. You will validate customer data across internal commerce platforms, manage a relentless backlog in Azure DevOps, and build tracking reports that highlight revenue impact and regional trends. Half your job is technical triage; the other half is diplomatic translation, ensuring non-technical stakeholders understand why a tenant move is failing without drowning them in enterprise jargon.
The Core Tech Stack
You need native-level fluency in the Microsoft Commerce Platform, specifically dealing with Enterprise Agreements (EA), Cloud Solution Providers (CSP), and Microsoft Customer Agreements for Enterprise (MCA-E). Because you'll be handling tenant and subscription validations daily, intermediate knowledge of cloud billing models is non-negotiable. Throw in a strong grip on Azure DevOps for tracking and Visio or PowerPoint for mapping out workflows, and you'll survive the operational churn.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager is going to test how you handle ambiguity and pushy stakeholders. Expect a scenario where an enterprise client demands an out-of-policy subscription transition that breaks standard billing rules. They want to see if you can politely say no while designing a compliant workaround. Another favorite will be asking how you prioritize a backlog when five different account teams claim their ticket is the top priority. They aren't looking for a software architecture answer; they want to see your operational framework and risk-mitigation strategy.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just read like a generic Agile project manager list. You need to explicitly weave in keywords like Microsoft Commerce Platform, Azure subscriptions, EA, CSP, and MCA-E to clear the automated ATS filters. Highlight any past experience where you managed support ticket backlogs, built operational reports, or wrestled with enterprise billing models. If you've ever had to calm down an angry stakeholder while untangling a messy technical migration, put that front and center.
