Job Description & Details
This is a solid, hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud gig for a developer who actually knows their way around AMPscript and complex data extensions without needing hand-holding. You'll be dropping into a high-volume B2B environment where your code directly impacts deliverability and campaign execution across dozens of clients.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in SFMC, building out responsive email templates, setting up Journey Builder paths, and writing raw SQL to segment your audiences. You'll be working closely with designers using Stencil, translating their visual layouts into bulletproof HTML/CSS that doesn't break when opened in Outlook or mobile clients. When automations throw errors or data extensions fail to sync, you'll be the one debugging the underlying logic and making sure everything fires on schedule.
The Core Tech Stack
Salesforce Marketing Cloud is the absolute center of gravity here, specifically Email Studio, Journey Builder, and Automation Studio. You live and breathe AMPscript for dynamic content manipulation and personalization. Your SQL game needs to be sharp because you're constantly writing queries for data extraction and audience segmentation. On the QA side, you'll rely heavily on Litmus and Validity/Everest to catch rendering bugs and protect sender reputation before anything hits production.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager is going to want to prove you actually write your own AMPscript from scratch. Expect a scenario where you have to write a nested conditional lookup block based on messy data extension values. They also love asking about SQL optimization within SFMC—specifically how you handle massive data volumes without timing out Automation Studio queries. Show them you understand Governor limits and proper indexing, and you're golden.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just list SFMC as a bullet point; explicitly spell out your experience with AMPscript, Automation Studio, and SQL queries. Drop exact keywords like Litmus, Validity/Everest, and Data Extensions right into your technical summary so the ATS picks them up immediately. Since this is a W2/independent contract role requiring direct outreach, shoot your resume straight to the provided email with a brief note highlighting your high-volume B2B deployment background.
