Job Description & Details
This is a solid backend-heavy role where you'll be building out core Django microservices while wrangling big data pipelines in Azure. If you like the intersection of traditional web apps and heavy data processing, this gig gives you a chance to touch both without getting pigeonholed into just one.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days designing and shipping secure RESTful APIs, optimizing database queries, and integrating cloud infrastructure. A huge chunk of your time will go toward writing PySpark jobs and managing data flows in Azure Databricks, alongside coordinating with the frontend crew to ensure your Django backends feed React UIs cleanly. Expect to spend plenty of time in code reviews, talking through architecture decisions, and figuring out how to scale things smoothly as data volume grows.
The Core Tech Stack
Django and Python are non-negotiable here since you'll be anchoring the entire backend ecosystem. Beyond that, you need legitimate production experience with Azure Cloud services, Azure Databricks, and PySpark because the heavy data crunching is a core part of the product's value proposition. Knowing your way around both SQL and NoSQL databases is also critical since performance optimization is explicitly mentioned as a day-one expectation.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on how you handle performance bottlenecks in distributed data pipelines. They will likely ask you to walk through a time you optimized a slow PySpark job or debugged a memory leak in Databricks, and they are secretly looking to see if you understand cluster resource allocation rather than just syntax. You should also be ready for a deep dive into Django ORM optimization and how you ensure database consistency across microservices under high load.
Application Advice
Skip the generic resume summary and make sure your experience with Django, Azure, and PySpark is front and center. Quantify your achievements by mentioning data volumes you've processed or API latency improvements you've driven, as these metrics will immediately catch the engineering manager's eye. Ensure keywords like 'Azure Databricks', 'RESTful APIs', and 'Microservices' are naturally woven into your work history to easily clear the automated screening filters.
