Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty EDI engineering role focused on keeping critical data pipelines running smoothly between internal systems and external partners. If you enjoy untangling complex file exchange issues and building bulletproof integrations that don't fall apart at 2 AM, this gig actually has some interesting technical depth.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be split between designing scalable EDI architectures, writing complex SQL queries, and troubleshooting mysterious data transmission failures. You'll work closely with product owners and business analysts to translate messy business requirements into reliable workflows. Expect to spend a decent amount of time automating manual processes, cleaning up data integrity issues, and modernizing legacy file transfer mechanisms using tools like GoAnywhere MFT.

The Core Tech Stack

They need someone who knows their way around EDI development, GoAnywhere MFT, and SQL Server with strong T-SQL skills. If you've worked with healthcare EDI standards like X12 (especially 834, 837, 276/277), you're already halfway there. Having a firm grip on RESTful APIs, Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines is non-negotiable since you'll be expected to write secure, maintainable code that fits right into modern deployment cycles.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to hand you a scenario where an X12 transaction failed silently in production and ask you to walk them through your exact debugging process. They want to see how methodically you check logs, analyze database states using T-SQL, and isolate transport vs. mapping errors. You'll likely also be grilled on how you handle asynchronous file transfers and edge cases in data mapping, so have a couple of real-world war stories ready about fixing broken integration pipelines.

Application Advice

Don't just list every tool you've ever touched; highlight your hands-on experience with EDI mapping, Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions like GoAnywhere, and heavy database work. Make sure keywords like GoAnywhere MFT, SQL Server, T-SQL, X12, and Azure DevOps stand out clearly in your experience section so you easily clear their initial ATS screening. Emphasize any workflow automation projects you've owned from design to deployment.
