Network Technician

Cynet Systems Inc.

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground Network Technician role based out of Greeley, CO, dealing heavily with physical infrastructure and telecom hardware. If you like working directly with physical gear rather than staring at configuration files all day, this contract gig is right up your alley.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days managing the physical lifecycle of network hardware and infrastructure. This means racking, stacking, cabling, patching, and swapping out switches, routers, and firewalls. You will also handle smart hands support, respond to ServiceNow tickets, escort third-party vendors, and troubleshoot environmental issues like cooling or water leaks in communications rooms. It's a high-activity role requiring careful adherence to safety protocols and change management procedures.

The Core Tech Stack

You need to know your way around structured cabling (copper and fiber), patch panels, and enterprise networking hardware. Familiarity with routing, switching, firewalls, and WiFi is a baseline requirement, but this role also dives into RF equipment, microwave radios, VSATs, cellular nodes, and IIoT systems like LoRaWAN. Strong physical troubleshooting skills and the ability to read hardware status LEDs and console error messages are absolute must-haves.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to ask you to walk them through a time you had to troubleshoot a physical link failure from end to end, starting from the patch panel down to the switch port. They want to see your methodical approach to layer-one issues. They will also likely quiz you on safety and change management procedures, looking to ensure you won't make unauthorized changes that could trigger a wider network outage.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume clearly highlights your hands-on data center or enterprise networking experience, specifically mentioning physical cabling, rack installations, and hardware troubleshooting. Keywords like 'ServiceNow', 'patching', 'fiber optic', 'routing and switching', and 'hardware maintenance' need to be prominent to clear their automated filters.
