Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, and Virtual Directory Services (VDS) Lead Engineer

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting identity and access management engineering role focused on modernizing enterprise directory services across multi-cloud and on-premises environments. You will be architecting and supporting complex systems like Microsoft Entra ID and RadiantOne VDS, making it a critical position for stabilizing large-scale authentication and federation pipelines.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days driving the design, implementation, and modernization of core identity infrastructure, specifically bridging legacy Active Directory with modern cloud platforms. Expect to tackle thorny synchronization issues, build out robust directory virtualization strategies, and ensure seamless identity data aggregation across hybrid setups. It is less about routine ticket-shuffling and more about engineering resilient, secure authentication paths that can withstand enterprise-grade compliance and disaster recovery scrutiny.

The Core Tech Stack

Your bread and butter here will be Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and Microsoft Entra ID, paired heavily with Virtual Directory Services like RadiantOne VDS. You need to intimately understand LDAP federation, identity abstraction, and how to securely aggregate identity data without breaking existing enterprise application integrations. If you don't know how identity synchronization platforms operate under heavy load across hybrid landscapes, you'll struggle with the architectural challenges thrown your way.

Interview Expectations

Be ready for deep-dive technical questions regarding identity synchronization failures and split-brain scenarios in hybrid AD setups. The hiring manager is going to ask you how you troubleshoot replication latency or token corruption between on-premises AD and Microsoft Entra ID, and they'll be looking for methodical troubleshooting logic, not just textbook definitions. They will also grill you on VDS architectures, specifically testing your grasp of directory virtualization and how to abstract disparate LDAP and SQL data sources into a unified namespace.

Application Advice

Skip the generic cloud buzzwords and make sure your resume explicitly highlights hands-on deployments of Microsoft Entra ID alongside complex AD DS architectures. Mention RadiantOne or similar VDS platforms front and center if you have them, and quantify your experience managing multi-site identity synchronization. Make sure your phrasing matches the enterprise compliance and security scale mentioned in the JD so your resume sails past the recruiter screen.
