Job Description & Details

This is a solid core analytics gig where you will actually own the reporting layer and act as the bridge between raw data sources and business strategy. If you know the insurance domain inside and out and enjoy building dashboards that executives actually look at, this role gives you plenty of autonomy without drowning you in endless data science research.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend a good chunk of your week translating messy business requests into clean, repeatable reports and dashboards using Power BI, Alteryx, and SQL. You will pull data from multiple legacy systems, connect disparate sources, and build out visualizations that make complex metrics digestible for non-technical stakeholders. Beyond just building reports, you'll be actively hunting down data quality issues at the root level and partnering with IT and data science teams to prep data for predictive models.

The Core Tech Stack

SQL and an enterprise reporting tool like Power BI or Tableau are non-negotiable here, alongside advanced Excel for ad-hoc analysis. Because this role lives in the insurance space, your ability to write efficient queries against relational databases and structure data cleanly is what will separate you from other applicants. You'll also touch Alteryx and SAS, so having a solid grasp of ETL concepts and data transformation workflows will make your day-to-day significantly smoother.

Interview Expectations

The hiring manager is going to test your ability to talk to business stakeholders just as much as your technical chops. Expect a live case study or scenario where they hand you a vague business request and ask how you would translate it into a specific set of KPI dashboards. They want to see that you don't just blindly build what you're asked for, but that you probe for the actual underlying business problem and ensure the data integrity supports it.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream insurance or healthcare domain expertise right at the top, so make sure your industry background is front and center. Explicitly list out your experience with SQL, Power BI, and data modeling rather than just mentioning tools broadly, as these are the primary keywords the ATS will scan for. Highlight a specific project where you took a complex operational problem, cleaned up the underlying data source, and delivered a dashboard that genuinely shifted business strategy.
