Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on architectural and engineering role focused on modernizing enterprise identity governance using SailPoint Identity Security Cloud. You won't just be pushing buttons in a UI; you'll be building scalable integrations, automating workflows, and securing access control models for a complex tech landscape.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days designing, building, and maintaining identity governance solutions on SailPoint ISC, handling everything from complex application onboarding to automated provisioning and access certifications. A significant part of your time will go toward collaborating with security, compliance, and application owners to enforce least-privilege principles without bottlenecking business operations. Expect to troubleshoot gnarly provisioning issues, establish CI/CD pipelines for IAM deployments, and mentor junior engineers on the team.
The Core Tech Stack
SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC) is the absolute foundation here, and you need deep, production-level expertise with it. Alongside SailPoint, you'll rely heavily on REST APIs, SCIM, and modern identity protocols like SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and LDAP to connect disparate enterprise systems. Because this role leans heavily into modern engineering practices, you'll also need solid experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, scripting, and Active Directory or SQL database integrations.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to press you on a scenario where an automated provisioning workflow fails mid-cycle in a production environment and how you would troubleshoot and remediate it without breaking identity state correlation. They are looking to see if you understand the underlying API calls, identity data models, and audit logs, rather than just knowing how to click through the SailPoint admin console. You should also be ready to explain how you would design a least-privilege RBAC model for a messy enterprise environment with conflicting business requirements.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on experience with SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC) rather than just older on-prem versions like IdentityNow or IIQ, assuming your background maps to it. Sprinkle in keywords like SCIM, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, identity lifecycle management, and access certifications to ensure you clear the ATS filters. Emphasize any cross-functional projects where you successfully partnered with compliance or security teams to clean up segregation of duties or role bloat.
