Cloud Devops Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a solid 6-month contract role focused on building out the AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for the CQRE One Portal. You will be owning the core deployment pipelines, serverless data ingestion, and overall observability, making it a great gig if you like heavy automation and cloud architecture.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days architecting and scaling AWS environments, deploying serverless data pipelines via AWS Lambda and Step Functions, and ensuring container workloads run smoothly on ECS or EKS. Expect to troubleshoot brittle CI/CD workflows, lock down VPC networks, and fine-tune observability tools like CloudWatch and Dynatrace so engineering teams have immediate visibility into production issues.

The Core Tech Stack

You need deep, practical experience with AWS core services like RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and IAM. Terraform or AWS CDK is non-negotiable since you will be driving Infrastructure as Code daily. Python is heavily relied upon here for writing serverless data ingestion scripts, so be ready to write clean, maintainable code rather than just shell scripts.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on your approach to zero-downtime deployments; they will likely ask how you would design a blue/green deployment strategy for containerized microservices running on ECS or EKS. They want to see if you actually understand state management in Terraform and how you handle rollback scenarios when a database migration fails midway.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS Lambda, and container orchestration tools like ECS or EKS. Don't just list technologies—include specific metrics about how you optimized CI/CD pipeline runtimes or improved cloud security posture using least-privilege IAM policies.
