This is a heavy-duty infrastructure gig at MTA Headquarters where you will be driving the enterprise cloud strategy, with a massive focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. If you know your way around Exadata, hybrid integrations, and locking down enterprise cloud governance, this role gives you serious architecture ownership.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days designing scalable, secure multi-cloud architectures while bridging the gap between legacy on-prem systems and modern cloud environments. Expect to partner closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into concrete designs, guide engineering teams through complex migrations, and establish the organization's IaC expansion roadmap. You'll be balancing high-availability needs with real-world enterprise constraints, ensuring networking, security, and FinOps practices are baked into every layer.
The Core Tech Stack
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is non-negotiable here, and having a current OCI certification (Architect Professional or Associate) will put you at the top of the pile. You need deep experience with hybrid infrastructure, cloud networking, and automation tools like Terraform and Ansible, paired with a solid understanding of Oracle database technologies like RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata. While OCI is your primary domain, secondary exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP and solid Linux administration chops will help you navigate their multi-cloud initiatives.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on disaster recovery and high-availability patterns, particularly how you handle split-brain scenarios and data replication across hybrid boundaries using Oracle Data Guard or Golden Gate. They want to see how you think about cloud governance at scale, so be prepared to explain a time you had to enforce security policies and FinOps guardrails without completely slowing down engineering velocity. They are looking for someone who can zoom out to high-level strategy and zoom in to specific network or VLAN configurations on the fly.
