Data Platform Architect

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting Data Platform Architect role where you are essentially building the modern data foundation for a healthcare ecosystem. You will spend your days wrangling multi-cloud architecture decisions and designing data flows that actually scale without exploding your cloud bill.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll be setting the grand vision for how data moves through the organization while staying in the trenches with engineering teams. Your daily life will involve designing robust ETL/ELT pipelines, bridging Azure and Google Cloud environments, and making sure compliance and data governance don't completely grind development to a halt. Expect to field difficult questions about data modeling, latency, and cost optimization from stakeholders who want real-time AI workloads yesterday.

The Core Tech Stack

You need to be intimately familiar with Snowflake, SQL, Python, and Matillion as your daily bread and butter. Beyond that, deep multi-cloud chops across Azure (including ADLS, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks) and GCP are non-negotiable. Add in some foundational knowledge of relational systems like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle, and you have the complete blueprint of what this infrastructure demands.

Interview Expectations

Be ready for a grilling on cloud cost optimization and disaster recovery strategies; the hiring manager is going to want to know how you handle a multi-terabyte data pipeline failure at 2 AM without losing critical healthcare claims data. They will also probe deep into your enterprise data modeling philosophies, specifically looking for how you balance normalization with analytical performance across disparate systems like Salesforce and FACETS.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume screams cloud architecture and data governance, specifically highlighting any hands-on experience you have with Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. If you have healthcare payer domain experience with claims or member data, put that right at the top of your summary to immediately clear the recruiter's ATS filters.
