Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting functional architecture role where you'll act as the main technical reference for SAP Tax platforms across the US and Mexico for a massive CPG player. If you know SAP FICO inside and out, specifically with complex tax engines and Mexico tax localizations, this gig gives you total end-to-end ownership of solution design without someone breathing down your neck.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days acting as the primary technical bridge between business stakeholders in Tax, Accounting, and Finance and the globally distributed engineering teams. Expect to scope out new requirements, determine whether a fix needs custom configuration or integration, manage platform release cycles, and design integrations with external tax engines like OneSource. You'll also run point on testing strategies and lead UAT execution while ensuring compliance across cross-border operations.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely must have deep mastery of SAP S/4HANA GL and Tax modules, direct and indirect tax solutions, and external tax engines such as Thomson Reuters OneSource. Strong functional knowledge of Mexico tax localizations, Pillar 2, US excise reporting, and foreign trade is non-negotiable. Plus, they want someone eager to experiment with AI tools like Microsoft Copilot Studio or Power Automate to build governed automations within the platform.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager will likely drill down into your experience with end-to-end SAP tax implementations, testing your ability to handle tricky cross-border integration issues between SAP and third-party engines like OneSource. They want to see how you translate complex, ambiguous tax regulations into clean technical specifications and functional blueprints while managing stakeholder expectations under tight compliance deadlines.
Application Advice
To make your resume stick with the ATS, ditch the generic bullet points and highlight your exact years of experience with SAP S/4HANA Tax, Mexico localizations, and OneSource integrations. Explicitly mention terms like "solution architecture," "tax engine integration," "functional specifications," and "agile product delivery" so your profile hits every keyword the recruiters are scanning for.
