Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty enterprise architecture role focused on leading AWS cloud initiatives in a hybrid setup based out of Albany, NY. You will be acting as the technical authority, guiding everything from multi-account landing zones to complex integrations while stepping down your weekly commitment over a three-year period.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will heavily revolve around translating high-level business and public-sector requirements into rock-solid AWS architectures. You won't just be drawing diagrams; you will actively lead data engineering and DevOps teams, review third-party vendor deliverables, and enforce the AWS Well-Architected framework. Expect to spend a lot of time defining security boundaries, structuring event-driven integrations, and making sure the underlying infrastructure is resilient, compliant, and cost-effective.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a deep mastery of AWS compute, storage, networking, IAM, and serverless ecosystem services. Beyond basic deployments, expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK is non-negotiable. You should also be completely comfortable designing secure REST/GraphQL APIs, implementing OAuth 2.0/JWT authentication, and managing multi-account governance structures.
Interview Expectations
Expect the interview panel to drill down into your practical experience with multi-account AWS landing zones and secure VPC networking. They will likely present a complex scenario involving cross-account access and data encryption, asking you to map out the IAM policies, KMS key structures, and network routing on the spot. The hiring managers are secretly testing your ability to balance enterprise security rigor with delivery speed, looking for someone who can defend their architecture choices against the AWS Well-Architected pillars.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume explicitly highlights phrases like "AWS Well-Architected Framework", "multi-account governance", and specific IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Don't just list technologies; emphasize your leadership background, detailing how you managed technical teams, reviewed vendor code, and successfully delivered secure enterprise cloud solutions in regulated environments.
