Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty platform engineering gig focused entirely on deploying and stabilizing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 environments from the ground up. If you enjoy wrestling with cluster architectures, hardening security posture, and fixing tricky infrastructure bottlenecks without hand-holding, this remote role is right up your alley.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days executing remote deployments, configuring core platform services, and making sure clusters don't fall over under load. A significant part of your time will go into setting up Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and Advanced Cluster Security (ACS) to keep multi-cluster environments locked down and observable. Expect to debug broken node communications, sort out storage and networking gremlins, and act as the go-to technical advisor for enterprise engineering teams trying to run workloads on OCP.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4, period. This isn't a surface-level admin job; you need to understand the underlying Kubernetes primitives, Operator Lifecycle Manager, and container runtimes. Experience with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and Advanced Cluster Security (ACS) is non-negotiable because the client is heavily invested in enterprise-grade governance and security postures across their Kubernetes footprint.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager is going to probe deep into your deployment scars. They will likely ask you to walk through a scenario where an OpenShift 4 cluster upgrade failed mid-flight and how you diagnosed the Operator errors using oc adm inspect and logs. They want to see how you handle etcd quorum loss and what steps you take to remediate it. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear the war stories of how you handled production outages.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams OpenShift 4 and doesn't just list generic Kubernetes experience. Highlight specific terms from the job description like 'RH OpenShift Container Platform 4', 'ACM', and 'ACS' prominently in your recent roles so you easily clear the initial ATS keyword filters. Frame your bullet points around large-scale cluster deployments and security hardening rather than just daily maintenance tasks.
