Job Description & Details
This is a solid hybrid contract gig for a Full Stack Developer who knows their way around both the UI and heavy backend data integrations. You'll be dropping into a municipal or state-level ecosystem in Texas, meaning you'll need to deal with legacy enterprise systems while building out modern APIs. If you enjoy wrangling relational databases and fixing data pipelines just as much as building React components, this role will keep you busy.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect your day-to-day to be a mix of writing RESTful APIs, untangling data exchange processes, and bridging the gap between frontend interfaces and backend databases. You'll be spending a decent amount of time moving CSV files securely via SFTP, tweaking PL/SQL queries in Oracle or PostgreSQL, and making sure Node.js or Python backend services talk nicely to modern frontend frameworks. Since it's a hybrid setup out of Pasadena, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to keep enterprise applications humming along in Linux environments.
The Core Tech Stack
You need to be completely comfortable living in JavaScript and Node.js for backend services, paired with React for the frontend. On top of that, heavy SQL skills using Oracle or PostgreSQL are non-negotiable because you'll constantly be digging into PL/SQL and data flows. Familiarity with Python, Postman, Linux command lines, and enterprise data integration tools like Informatica or Ethos will immediately separate you from other applicants.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager is likely going to drill down into your API design patterns and how you handle error states during data integration. They might ask you to explain how you would design a resilient REST endpoint that processes a massive CSV file via SFTP without timing out the server. They aren't just looking for syntax knowledge here; they want to see how you troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in a Linux environment under pressure.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume highlights specific examples of API development and complex data integrations rather than just listing front-end frameworks. Naturally weave in keywords like REST API, JSON, Node.js, React, PL/SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SFTP to make sure you clear the automated ATS filters. If you have any background working with Banner ERP or public sector clients, put that right near the top.
