Product Manager (Finance Data)-Insurance Domain

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a specialized product manager role sitting right at the intersection of complex insurance finance and modern data engineering. You will be building the financial data foundation for the Collider platform, making sure calculations for earned premiums and loss ratios are rock-solid and trusted by leadership.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days bridging the gap between actuarial teams and data engineers who are building out the core finance pipelines. Your main hustle involves taking dense insurance concepts like reserves and incurred losses, translating them into crisp user stories, and actually rolling up your sleeves to write SQL to validate data models yourself. You aren't just writing requirements on a whiteboard; you are getting deep into the data weeds to ensure the numbers match reality.

The Core Tech Stack

Expect to live and breathe SQL and advanced data modeling concepts tailored for analytics and reporting platforms. You need a strong grasp of data warehousing patterns, data governance, and agile backlog management tools like Jira. Because the domain is strictly insurance, your technical chops won't mean much if you don't inherently understand how premium calculations, loss ratios, and actuarial data flows work.

Interview Expectations

When you sit down with the hiring team, expect them to test both your product mindset and your technical depth with data. They will likely ask you to whiteboard how you would design a data model for tracking incurred losses and unearned premium reserves from scratch. The hiring manager isn't just looking for a textbook data model; they want to see how you handle messy edge cases, auditability, and how you communicate trade-offs between speed of delivery and financial accuracy.

Application Advice

To make your resume stick for this role, drop the generic product management buzzwords and focus heavily on your data and insurance domain credentials. Explicitly highlight your hands-on SQL experience, data modeling projects, and any direct exposure you have had to financial metrics like earned premiums or reserves. If you have worked with actuarial teams or built out finance data pipelines in the past, put that front and center to clear the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention.
