Product Owner / Technology Product Manager

Job Description & Details

This is a solid 13-month contract gig acting as a bridge between high-level business goals and the engineering teams actually building out enterprise platforms. You'll spend your days wrangling stakeholders, unblocking developers, and making sure the backlog doesn't turn into a digital junk drawer. It's high-visibility, heavily collaborative, and requires someone who can juggle shifting priorities without dropping the ball.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your primary mission is to own the product backlog from conception to delivery. You will sit squarely in the middle of business stakeholders who want everything yesterday and engineering teams who need crystal-clear requirements to build sustainably. Expect to run backlog grooming sessions, write granular user stories with airtight acceptance criteria, and herd cats across multiple concurrent initiatives. You'll also need to navigate corporate change management, risk frameworks, and compliance standards without driving your dev team insane.

The Core Tech Stack

You need to live and breathe Agile frameworks—specifically Scrum and Kanban—while leveraging tools like Jira and Confluence to keep the train on the tracks. Having familiarity with SAFe is a massive plus since this is an enterprise-scale environment. More than any specific tool, your true tech stack is your ability to translate complex technical dependencies, infrastructure platforms, and cloud initiatives into actionable steps that engineers can actually execute.

Interview Expectations

Be prepared for a hiring manager to throw a messy scenario your way, such as: "Two critical stakeholders want opposing features shipped by the exact same deadline; how do you handle it?" They are looking for your conflict resolution skills, data-driven prioritization methods, and your spine. They might also ask you to write a quick user story on the fly from a vague business requirement to test if you can turn ambiguity into concrete specs without breaking a sweat.

Application Advice

To get past the automated ATS screens, ensure your resume explicitly features keywords like "Product Owner," "Backlog Management," "Agile/Scrum," "Jira," and "Stakeholder Management." Don't just list your past job titles; highlight measurable outcomes where you successfully aligned engineering teams and business stakeholders to ship enterprise tech initiatives on time.
