Job Description & Details
This long-term contract role is built for a senior observability engineer who knows Dynatrace inside and out, specifically focusing on cleaning up alerting noise and bridging the gap between monitoring and ITSM. If you are tired of basic setup tasks and want to architect workflows, automate incident routing, and drive down MTTR at an enterprise scale, this gig is worth your time.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days wrestling with asset visibility, designing bulletproof tagging strategies, and setting up automated remediation pathways so the right teams actually get woken up for the right issues. A huge part of this role revolves around integration—specifically tying Dynatrace alerts directly into Freshservice. You'll be building automated ticketing workflows, configuring Davis AI to actually mean something for root-cause analysis, and removing the manual overhead that slows down incident response.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery over Dynatrace—specifically Davis AI, the Automation Engine, management zones, and complex entity classification. Beyond the monitoring tool itself, you need deep familiarity with Freshservice or a comparable ITSM platform, plus a solid grasp of cloud infrastructure and service dependency mapping. If you don't already breathe APM and workflow automation, this environment will expose those gaps immediately.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to present a chaotic scenario where alert storms are flooding the system and developers are ignoring notifications, then ask you how you would redesign the management zones and automation rules to fix it. They want to hear about your battle scars regarding tagging governance and how you prevent alert fatigue while keeping MTTR low. Another favorite line of questioning will test your specific knowledge of integrating observability webhooks into third-party ticketing APIs like Freshservice.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to scream 'automation' and 'governance', not just 'monitoring.' Don't just list that you used Dynatrace; highlight exact metrics where you reduced Mean Time to Repair or cleaned up thousands of unmanaged assets using custom tagging strategies. Make sure keywords like 'Freshservice', 'Workflow Automation', 'Davis AI', and 'Management Zones' are front and center so you easily clear the initial ATS filters.
