Job Description & Details
This is a solid, long-term contract role for someone who truly understands the operational realities of SAP Business Technology Platform administration and production support. If you are tired of greenfield projects that never go live and want to dive deep into maintaining and stabilizing real-world cloud environments, this 12-month gig will keep you busy and heavily utilized.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around keeping the lights on and the integration pipelines healthy within a complex SAP landscape. You will spend a good chunk of your time handling incident management, digging through logs to troubleshoot stubborn issues, and ensuring seamless communication between different SAP and non-SAP systems. Because this leans heavily into Application Management Services (AMS), you'll need to be comfortable dealing with user tickets, escalating complex bottlenecks, and proactively monitoring system performance to prevent downtime before it impacts the business.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in SAP BTP Administration—this isn't a role where you can fake your way through the cockpit settings. Coupled with that, hands-on exposure to SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud is a non-negotiable requirement, meaning you need to understand how tenant provisioning, security, and cloud extensions actually operate in a modern enterprise. Strong foundational knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and a proven track record in AMS production support will form the daily tools of your trade, allowing you to bridge the gap between functional business requirements and technical execution.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to skip the softball questions and throw a real production outage scenario at you, asking something like, "Walk me through how you would isolate and resolve a sudden integration failure between BTP and an S/4HANA Public Cloud tenant during a peak business hour." They aren't just looking for textbook steps; they want to see your troubleshooting methodology, how you prioritize triage under pressure, and whether you can communicate technical root causes clearly to non-technical stakeholders. They will also likely drill down into your SAP BTP security and entitlements setup to ensure you know how to lock down access properly.
Application Advice
To get past the automated screens, make sure your resume explicitly features keywords like SAP BTP Administration, S/4HANA Public Cloud, and AMS Production Support right at the top. Don't just list these terms as bullet points; weave them into your past project descriptions by highlighting specific incidents you resolved, downtimes you prevented, or complex integrations you managed. Hiring managers are looking for reliability and proven operational grit, so emphasize your hands-on troubleshooting experience over high-level architecture design.
