Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on IT project management role working directly with the State of Rhode Island's Secretary of State department to roll out critical Salesforce implementations. If you are comfortable juggling bureaucratic stakeholders while wrangling technical deliverables, this gig gives you a chance to drive meaningful public sector tech modernization.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days bridging the massive gap between non-technical government stakeholders and the engineering teams building the actual Salesforce instances. Expect to run daily standups, manage project scopes using Agile or Waterfall methodologies, unblock developers, and ensure that data migrations and third-party integrations don't derail your timeline. You'll constantly be translating high-level business goals into actionable sprint tasks while keeping budgets and deadlines strictly in check.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a deep, functional understanding of the Salesforce ecosystem—specifically Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud—alongside heavy usage of project tracking tools like Jira and Microsoft Project. The engineering teams will rely on you to understand the limitations and capabilities of the platform, as well as the nuances of the SDLC and data pipelines. Knowing how to speak the language of both enterprise architects and government bureaucrats is your most critical tool here.
Interview Expectations
Expect the interview panel to throw a complex scenario at you about managing scope creep when a government stakeholder requests a major feature change halfway through a rigid Waterfall/Agile hybrid timeline; they want to see if you can diplomatically push back without killing project momentum. They will also likely drill down into how you handle failed data migrations or broken integrations right before a hard launch date, looking for calm, methodical troubleshooting and risk mitigation strategies.
Application Advice
To get past the automated screening, make sure your resume heavily features exact keyword matches like 'Salesforce implementation', 'Sales Cloud', 'Service Cloud', 'Jira', and 'SDLC'. Don't just list your past job titles; write bullet points that explicitly highlight your experience managing full project lifecycles from kick-off to deployment, and proudly feature any PMP, CSM, or Salesforce Admin certifications right at the top.
