System Validation Test Engineer

Cynet Systems

Job Description & Details

This contract gig places you right in the trenches of hardware bring-up and post-silicon validation, focusing heavily on power management and high-speed I/O interfaces. You'll be spending your days bridging the gap between raw silicon and functional hardware, ensuring new processor features actually survive the real world. If you like breaking things with oscilloscopes and figuring out why a prototype is throwing electrical anomalies, this role offers plenty of technical depth.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around writing, executing, and refining electrical and functional test plans for cutting-edge processor silicon. You'll hook up high-speed capturing gear like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes, stress-test I/O interfaces, and hunt down elusive bugs at the SoC and system level. When a test fails—and they will—you'll dive deep into root cause analysis, collaborating directly with internal design teams and writing out comprehensive test reports to get anomalies ironed out.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a solid foundation in hardware validation, which means being completely comfortable with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, margin test tools, and logic analyzers. Hardware debugging at the platform and SoC level is non-negotiable, alongside the ability to read schematics and layout documentation. While your core day involves hands-on lab work, having fluency in C, C++, and scripting languages like Python or Perl will give you a massive edge when it comes to automation and driving efficiency in the validation lab.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to hand you a scenario where an I/O interface is failing signal integrity compliance at high speeds, and they will want to hear your step-by-step methodology for isolating whether it is a board layout issue, a power supply fluctuation, or a silicon bug. They are secretly testing your systematic debugging process and your familiarity with high-speed signal behavior. You should also be ready to discuss how you write automation scripts in Python to streamline repetitive test procedures, as they want engineers who scale their efforts rather than doing everything manually.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume screams hardware validation, post-silicon integration, and lab instrumentation rather than generic software development. Explicitly list out terms like electrical compliance, oscilloscope, schematic reading, SoC debugging, and Python scripting so you easily clear the initial ATS filters. Frame your past projects around how you found root causes in complex hardware systems and worked across multi-functional teams to ship reliable silicon.
