Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty BI infrastructure and migration contract based in Auburn Hills, where you'll be untangling legacy reporting ecosystems and modernizing them into something actually usable. If you are tired of just building basic dashboards and want to architect semantic models and handle platform migrations at scale, this gig is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around spearheading BI platform migrations—specifically moving legacy systems like SAP BI over to Power BI or Tableau. You won't just be dragging and dropping charts; you'll be knee-deep in semantic model design, fixing sluggish dashboard performance, hooking up massive data sources from AWS, GCP, and Azure, and making sure the enterprise security and authentication frameworks like Entra ID and LDAP are locked down tight.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute fluency in Power BI, Tableau, SAP BI, and SAC, because you'll be migrating between them while managing on-prem administration. On the data side, deep familiarity with cloud warehouses like AWS Athena, S3, and GCP BigQuery is non-negotiable. You also need to understand ETL/ELT data pipelines and how to optimize complex queries so your reports don't time out when stakeholders hit them with heavy segmentation and alerting.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to grill you on platform migration strategies, specifically asking how you handle data discrepancies and user adoption drop-offs when moving from SAP BI to Power BI. They want to hear about your battle scars with semantic modeling bottlenecks and how you optimize dashboard performance against massive cloud datasets without crashing the source system.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't read like a list of basic report designs; heavily emphasize your enterprise migration experience, data modeling depth, and cloud data source integrations. Explicitly drop keywords like semantic model design, SAP BI to Power BI migration, AWS Athena, BigQuery, and Entra ID right into your experience bullets to clear the ATS and signal to the engineering team that you've operated at this scale before.
