Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting release engineering role where you will act as the operational glue between a massive engineering org and production infrastructure. If you enjoy wrangling complex release schedules and migrating pipelines to Azure without breaking a sweat, this gig will keep you on your toes.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll be steering code through the entire release lifecycle, making sure that weekly deployment schedules involving over a hundred engineers actually land without a hitch. Your days will involve coordinating quality gates, UAT, regression, and pen testing while driving a critical migration from on-prem pipelines to Azure. You are essentially the gatekeeper of zero-downtime deployments, balancing cross-application dependencies and running post-release reviews to speed up delivery safely.
The Core Tech Stack
To survive here, you need deep, battle-tested experience with GitLab and Azure DevOps for building robust CI/CD pipelines. You won't just be clicking buttons; you'll need solid scripting chops in PowerShell to automate deployments and maintain platform integrity. Familiarity with regulated or financial services environments is a huge plus because compliance and auditable deliverables are baked into every single release.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on handling catastrophic pipeline failures right before a major production deploy; they want to see how you execute rollback plans under pressure. They'll also likely probe your experience with merge conflicts, branching strategies in GitLab, and how you coordinate cross-functional teams when two dependent services block each other's release path.
Application Advice
Skip the generic DevOps buzzwords and make sure your resume explicitly highlights your experience managing concurrent releases across large teams. Front-load your metrics regarding pipeline migrations to Azure, PowerShell automation scripts, and GitLab administration so the ATS immediately catches your enterprise-grade background.
