Senior Revenue Accountant

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on, intensive contract gig for a Senior Revenue Accountant who can step into Palo Alto and immediately take ownership of complex revenue workflows, month-end close tasks, and SOX controls. If you hate dry, repetitive bookkeeping and prefer solving meaty Order-to-Cash bottlenecks under tight deadlines, this role gives you the autonomy to actually make an impact on the finance ops.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days knee-deep in NetSuite and Excel, prepping audit-ready SOX workbooks, booking journal entries, and running account reconciliations for the monthly close. Beyond the standard close cycle, you'll be dissecting complex customer contracts under ASC 606, handling collection forecasting, assisting with quarterly AR footnotes, and jumping into UAT for new billing products. Expect to collaborate heavily with cross-functional teams to streamline billing pipelines and flag variance issues before they turn into audit findings.

The Core Tech Stack

To survive here, you need fluent command of NetSuite, advanced Excel skills that go way beyond simple VLOOKUPs (think heavy data validation, complex formulas, and massive datasets), and working familiarity with Salesforce. On the domain knowledge side, you must have an airtight grasp of ASC 606 revenue recognition rules and strict SOX compliance frameworks. Big 4 experience and a CPA are major pluses that will fast-track your credibility with the team.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to test your practical knowledge of ASC 606 through a real-world contract scenario, asking you how you'd allocate transaction price across multiple performance obligations. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to see how you reason through ambiguity and document your logic for an auditor. You'll also likely face questions on NetSuite journal entry workflows and how you manage collections forecasting while keeping AR aging under control in a fast-growing environment.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream audit-readiness and technical accounting depth right off the bat. Make sure keywords like ASC 606, SOX compliance, NetSuite, and complex reconciliations are front and center in your bullet points. Don't just list tasks—highlight specific process improvements you've driven in the Order-to-Cash cycle or major audit workpapers you've owned from scratch to prove you can hit the ground running on day one.
