Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty federal contracting leadership role based out of Kittery, Maine, requiring an active security clearance and serious chops in government acquisitions. You'll be steering the ship for acquisition support teams, handling everything from pre-solicitation strategy to post-award administration while keeping direct reports aligned and compliant.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be a mix of high-level strategic oversight and hands-on federal procurement firefighting. You'll review complex solicitation packages, dive deep into pricing documentation, guide IDIQ task orders, and interface directly with government stakeholders to keep deliverables on track. Beyond the paperwork, you are expected to mentor your team, balance workloads, and manage tricky transitions without dropping the ball on compliance or security protocols.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery over federal contracting laws, regulations, and automated electronic commerce acquisition systems. On the daily, you'll be leveraging Microsoft 365—specifically Excel for price analysis and Word for pulling together airtight acquisition strategies. Holding the line on DAWIA Contracting Professional and Program Management certifications (or equivalent FAC-C/DAWIA Level III/IV standards) is non-negotiable here, as the government expects you to walk in the door knowing the rulebook inside and out.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring panel to test your real-world crisis management by asking how you would handle a major discrepancy in a complex IDIQ pricing negotiation or a severe delivery delay from a subcontractor under tight PWS deadlines. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to see your practical leadership style, how you mentor struggling team members, and your exact methodology for ensuring 100% federal compliance without stalling operational momentum.
Application Advice
To get past the automated screeners, your resume needs to explicitly feature keywords like "IDIQ contracts", "price analysis", "solicitation preparation", and "DAWIA Contracting Professional Certification". Don't just list where you've worked; weave a compelling narrative around your supervisory background and major federal acquisitions you've successfully driven from market research to closeout.
