Job Description & Details
This contract role as a Senior Maintenance Planner Scheduler in Fremont places you right in the middle of manufacturing operations where keeping equipment running smoothly is everything. You will act as the bridge between operations, engineering, and maintenance to minimize downtime and make sure wrenches are turning instead of waiting on parts.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day revolves around pre-planning work orders, hunting down the right MRO parts, and making sure special permits or heavy equipment are lined up before a technician ever touches a machine. You are dealing with real-world chaos—handling emergency breakdowns under pressure, tracking down recurring equipment failures, and constantly updating the CMMS to keep the preventative maintenance program from falling behind. You will also run weekly scheduling meetings, wrangle KPI reports, and manage staging and kitting so the floor teams have zero excuses for delays.
The Core Tech Stack
You need solid familiarity with enterprise tools like Oracle, SAP, Maximo, or COMOS, because tracking maintenance history and inventory in a CMMS is your bread and butter. Beyond the software, you must understand how to read technical drawings, manuals, and schematics while navigating Microsoft Office for data crunching and KPI tracking. The real test is your ability to take raw maintenance data, spot trends in repeat equipment failures, and optimize tool time without breaking safety protocols.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a realistic crisis scenario your way, such as a critical production line going down unexpectedly while your scheduled maintenance backlog is already maxed out. They are secretly looking for your triage methodology, calmness under pressure, and how you communicate with cross-functional teams like EHS and Production. Another common angle will test your data proficiency—they'll want to know how you extract metrics from a CMMS like Maximo or SAP to drive a specific reduction in equipment downtime.
Application Advice
When updating your resume for this role, do not just list your past job titles; make sure you spotlight quantifiable achievements related to wrench time improvement, maintenance planning efficiency, and CMMS migrations or optimizations. Weave in exact keywords from the job description such as MRO parts procurement, root cause failure analysis, preventive maintenance programs, and ERP systems like SAP or Oracle to easily sail past the initial ATS filters.
