Lead Salesforce Marketing Cloud Architect

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting architecture role focused entirely on scaling complex Salesforce Marketing Cloud ecosystems. If you are tired of basic email deployments and want to tackle enterprise-grade multi-cloud integrations, this position offers the architectural ownership you are looking for.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will involve designing scalable enterprise solutions, building intricate customer journeys, and handling upstream and downstream system integrations. You will spend a significant amount of time translating ambiguous business requirements into robust technical frameworks within Journey Builder and Automation Studio while keeping platform limitations and data performance front and center. Expect to collaborate heavily with both technical developers and non-technical business stakeholders to ensure seamless cross-platform functionality.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely need deep mastery of AMPScript, SSJS, SQL, and HTML to build dynamic, data-driven messaging. Beyond standard SFMC tools like Email Studio, Mobile Studio, and Audience Builder, you are expected to bring a traditional full-stack background—ideally with .NET—alongside rock-solid expertise in Marketing Cloud Connector capabilities and REST/SOAP APIs to bridge the gap between SFMC and Salesforce CRM.

Interview Expectations

Be ready for deep-dive architectural grilling, such as being asked how you would troubleshoot a severe performance bottleneck in a high-volume Automation Studio data extract feeding multiple downstream systems. The interviewer isn't just looking for a syntax checker; they want to see if you can methodically isolate API payload limitations, optimize SQL query activities, and safeguard data integrity under heavy concurrent loads. Another favorite you will likely encounter is explaining a scenario where you had to architect a workaround for a native SFMC platform limitation without breaking existing multi-cloud data flows.

Application Advice

Skip the generic marketing buzzwords and tailor your resume to mirror the exact technical requirements listed here, specifically highlighting your years of experience with Journey Builder, AMPScript, and multi-cloud integrations. To get past the ATS, explicitly state your certifications if you have them, and use a dedicated technical project section to prove you have successfully managed enterprise-scale architecture transformations rather than just day-to-day campaign execution.
