Azure Cloud Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty Azure cloud engineering role for someone who actually knows how to build production-grade infrastructure from scratch, not just click around the portal. You'll be owning the migration, scaling, and operational reliability of enterprise workloads while collaborating closely with development teams.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days architecting, deploying, and maintaining resilient cloud environments on Microsoft Azure. Expect to write plenty of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep, configure complex networking topologies with VNets and Application Gateways, and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks across distributed systems. You'll also be automating repetitive operational tasks so the team can focus on scaling the platform rather than babysitting alerts.

The Core Tech Stack

You need deep, battle-tested experience with Microsoft Azure core services, including Virtual Machines, AKS, App Services, and robust storage solutions. Terraform is a non-negotiable requirement for managing IaC, alongside a solid grasp of Azure networking fundamentals like subnets and NSGs. Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python is essential for building automation pipelines, and you should be comfortable leveraging Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for day-2 operations.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on real-world scenarios, particularly around designing high-availability architectures and troubleshooting failed deployments. They will likely ask you to explain how you would troubleshoot a complex networking latency issue between an on-prem environment and an Azure VNet, or how you handle state management conflicts in Terraform. They aren't just looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear about how you've handled production outages and made architectural trade-offs under pressure.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to make it instantly obvious that you've managed large-scale Azure environments for nearly a decade. Don't just list technologies; highlight specific migrations you've led, the size of the infrastructure you've managed via Terraform, and how your automation scripts reduced toil. Make sure to prominently feature keywords like Infrastructure as Code, AKS, Azure networking, and Terraform to easily clear the ATS filters.
