Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty backend engineering gig focused on modernizing an enterprise product catalog using PIM systems, with Akeneo being the golden standard they are looking for. You will be knee-deep in replacing legacy workflows with scalable, event-driven microservices that handle massive amounts of real-time inventory and catalog data.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days designing and maintaining resilient event-driven pipelines that sync product taxonomy, merchandising attributes, and digital assets between Akeneo PIM, upstream ERPs, and downstream e-commerce engines. You are going to face real challenges around high-throughput data synchronization, optimizing database queries for massive SKU hierarchies, and making sure the live platform maintains 24/7 availability without breaking a sweat.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Java with Spring Boot or Node.js/Go for building APIs, coupled with heavy hands-on experience using Apache Kafka for event streaming and pub/sub architecture. Because you are dealing with immense product catalogs, deep relational and NoSQL database optimization (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) is non-negotiable to keep payload processing lightning-fast.
Interview Expectations
They will likely grill you on how you handle partition strategies and consumer groups in Kafka when dealing with out-of-order product updates from a PIM system. The hiring manager wants to see if you can architect a bulletproof delta-calculation engine that prevents race conditions when multiple upstream sources hammer the catalog simultaneously.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume heavily features the exact terms from the JD like "Akeneo PIM," "Apache Kafka," "microservices," and "event-driven architecture" so you breeze through the ATS. Tie your previous experience directly to data synchronization pipelines and high-volume SKU modeling to show you can handle the scale of global retail commerce right out of the gate.
