Coordinator, Deal Operations

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on operational role sitting at the intersection of legal, finance, and content acquisition for a major player in the publishing and media space. If you like untangling contract data, keeping complex spreadsheets organized, and working directly with internal teams to onboard partners, this gig will keep you busy without requiring heavy coding.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around shepherding contracts through their lifecycle, entering intricate terms into internal databases, and making sure payment milestones are tracked accurately. You'll act as the glue between Legal, Finance, and Content teams, meaning you'll spend a lot of time troubleshooting payment tickets, updating trackers, and ensuring that a change in a contract actually translates correctly into the downstream financial systems.

The Core Tech Stack

While you won't be building software, you live and breathe MS Office, particularly Excel—think complex trackers, data manipulation, and maintaining crystal-clear spreadsheets. Familiarity with database concepts and basic SQL queries is a massive plus here because you'll be auditing contract data and running ad-hoc reports to keep operations humming.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to test your obsessive attention to detail with scenario-based questions like, "A contract term changes mid-stream regarding a milestone payment; walk me through how you update the database and notify finance." They want to see that you have a structured, methodical approach to catching downstream errors before they turn into payroll or legal nightmares.

Application Advice

Skip the generic corporate fluff on your resume and highlight any past experience dealing with contracts, intellectual property, or heavy data entry in Excel. If you have any exposure to SQL or database management, put that front and center, as it will instantly elevate your profile above applicants who only have basic administrative backgrounds.
