Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting Enterprise Integration Architect role focused squarely on leading integration strategy across complex, global SAP landscapes. You won't be writing the day-to-day integration flows yourself, but rather owning the architecture, governance, and long-term roadmap for how SAP S/4HANA talks to the rest of the enterprise ecosystem. If you enjoy untangling massive legacy systems and modernizing them with SAP BTP and cloud integration platforms, this gig is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days acting as the ultimate design authority for enterprise integrations, translating gnarly business requirements in finance, supply chain, and manufacturing into clean, scalable architecture blueprints. Your core mission is to steer teams away from messy point-to-point connections and toward reusable, event-driven integration patterns using SAP CPI and API Management. You will regularly lead architecture reviews, sniff out technical debt and scalability bottlenecks, and establish the integration principles that global delivery teams must follow.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, battle-tested expertise in SAP integration technologies—specifically SAP CPI, SAP Integration Suite, and BTP, alongside legacy PI/PO or platforms like Boomi. A firm grasp of integration patterns and standard protocols like REST, SOAP, OData, IDocs, RFC/BAPI, and EDI/B2B is non-negotiable because you'll be designing how SAP S/4HANA hooks into every major SaaS, cloud, and legacy platform in the stack. Having a TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture framework background is also key to bridging the gap between high-level business capabilities and low-level technical execution.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring panel to hit you with a scenario where a global manufacturing rollout is facing massive latency issues between SAP S/4HANA and a third-party warehouse management system, and they'll want to hear how you triage synchronous versus asynchronous patterns to fix it. They are secretly testing whether you can hold your ground against aggressive business timelines while refusing to compromise on integration governance and architectural integrity. Be ready to defend your past decisions on when to use event-driven messaging versus traditional file-based or API approaches.
Application Advice
Skip the generic corporate resume summary and immediately highlight your 15+ years of architecture leadership, specifically calling out large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementations and cloud migrations. Make sure exact keywords like SAP CPI, SAP BTP, Enterprise Integration Patterns, TOGAF, and API Management are prominent in your experience section to easily clear their automated ATS filters. Emphasize your background in reducing point-to-point integrations and governing global enterprise environments so they instantly recognize you as a seasoned pro who can step in and run the show.
