Senior Java Developer

Creative Information Technology Inc (CITI)

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting Senior Java Developer role centered around Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) systems for government and commercial sectors. You'll need an active Secret clearance right out of the gate and a deep understanding of federal security frameworks like NIST and FedRAMP.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days architecting, coding, and scaling Java-based microservices that handle complex authentication and cryptographic workflows. Expect to untangle legacy constraints while pushing forward modern cloud architectures on AWS or Azure. Your code will undergo strict security scrutiny, meaning you'll spend considerable time optimizing for OWASP standards, fixing vulnerabilities flagged by SonarQube or Tenable, and ensuring your RESTful APIs hold up under intense federal compliance audits.

The Core Tech Stack

Java 11/17+ and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate) are your bread and butter here. You cannot fake experience with microservices, containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ. Because this gig touches ICAM and heavy cryptography, bonus points go to anyone who actually understands PKCS#11, HSMs, and JCE/JCA providers instead of just reading about them in documentation.

Interview Expectations

Expect the engineering panel to drill down into your concurrency and distributed transaction management strategies within a microservices setup; they want to know how you handle cascading failures when a downstream authentication service drops. They are also going to test your practical knowledge of federal security compliance—be ready to explain how you've previously baked NIST SP 800-53 or FedRAMP controls directly into your CI/CD pipelines without grinding feature delivery to a halt.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to make it past both strict ATS filters and a technical hiring manager who cares deeply about security clearance and compliance. Explicitly list out your years of experience with Java 11/17, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and specific federal security frameworks like NIST or FedRAMP. If you have hands-on exposure to hardware security modules (HSMs) or public key infrastructure (PKI), bring those keywords right to the top of your professional summary.
