Systems Administrator

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a solid, hands-on Systems Administrator role supporting the Transportation Operations Center, balancing traditional infrastructure work with modern security and provisioning tasks. You will be the backbone of mission-critical systems, dealing with everything from routine hardware deployments to complex break/fix incidents across mixed OS environments.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be a mix of firefighting and proactive maintenance. You'll handle support escalations from Tier 1 through Tier 3, configure and deploy RedHat Linux and Windows servers, and manage user accounts and endpoints. Alongside standard hardware and OS patching, you'll actively monitor server resources for anomalies, assist with cybersecurity threat hunting, and ensure backup and disaster recovery protocols run without a hitch.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a strong foundation in both RedHat Linux and Windows Server environments, as you'll be configuring, provisioning, and troubleshooting across both. Experience with GIS infrastructure applications, rigorous OS patch management, and proactive security monitoring tools is essential. The team relies on your ability to maintain meticulous change history logs and architecture documentation while keeping resource constraints in mind.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a realistic crisis scenario at you, such as troubleshooting a sudden drop in server performance tied to a mysterious network anomaly. They want to hear your systematic approach to log analysis, isolating the root cause, and communicating effectively with impacted stakeholders. They'll also probe your experience with Linux and Windows hardening to see how well you integrate security controls into daily administration.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on experience with RedHat Linux and Windows server configuration, tier 3 troubleshooting, and system monitoring. Don't just list technologies; describe instances where you managed infrastructure provisioning, applied security patches, and handled end-user support in high-pressure environments.
