Break Fix Technician

Apex Systems

Job Description & Details

This is a straightforward, boots-on-the-ground Break Fix Technician role based onsite in Mesa, Arizona, dealing with daily hardware and desktop support issues. If you enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, physical hardware swaps, and interacting directly with end-users in a corporate setting rather than staring at code all day, this long-term gig is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days handling IMAC requests, break-fix incidents, and deskside support according to strict client policies. Your routine will involve physical troubleshooting, replacing parts, upgrading systems, and deploying hardware right on site, while occasionally dealing with difficult customers or resolving conflicts calmly. If a hardware issue threatens to take down an entire department or site, you'll be the one escalating it to the Desktop Support Site Lead while keeping a cool head.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely need a solid grasp of the Windows operating system environment and standard corporate hardware because you'll be wrenching on enterprise assets daily. Having an industry standard cert like CompTIA A+, Net+, or Security+ is non-negotiable here to prove you understand the fundamentals of PC repair and networking without needing hand-holding.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to ask you to walk them through a time you dealt with an angry end-user whose computer crashed right before a major presentation, as they want to see your customer service soft skills in action under pressure. They will also likely quiz you on your physical diagnostic process for a machine that won't POST, looking to see if you can methodically isolate hardware failures from software issues.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume clearly highlights your hands-on desktop support history, corporate environment experience, and physical hardware deployment background. Weave keywords like 'IMAC', 'Break Fix', 'CompTIA A+', and 'Windows Operating System' directly into your work experience bullets to easily clear the client's automated ATS filters.
