Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty platform role focused entirely on the IT Asset Management suite, requiring you to wrangle complex HAM Pro and SAM Pro deployments at enterprise scale. If you enjoy untangling messy data models, building robust integrations with endpoint tools, and turning hardware/software lifecycle tracking into an automated science, this gig will keep you thoroughly engaged.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days buried in ServiceNow data models, building custom integrations, and configuring HAM Pro and SAM Pro workflows that actually make sense for procurement, finance, and security. Expect to write advanced client/server scripts, tune Discovery identification and reconciliation rules, and clean up CMDB relationships so stakeholders finally trust the inventory dashboards. You won't just be writing basic scripts; you'll be architecting end-to-end asset lifecycle automations from device receiving all the way to secure disposal.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in ServiceNow JavaScript, Glide API, and Flow Designer, backed by deep, hands-on experience with SAM Pro, HAM Pro, and the CMDB/CSDM framework. Because you'll be integrating directly with SCCM, Intune, Jamf, and Azure AD, a strong understanding of endpoint data flows and software licensing models (per device, SaaS, Oracle, Microsoft) is non-negotiable for keeping compliance positions accurate.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to hand you a scenario where a custom software entitlement script is failing reconciliation, and they'll want you to talk through how you'd debug the IRE rules and GlideRecord queries to fix it without tanking instance performance. They'll also probe your experience with IRE and Identification and Reconciliation rules by asking how you handle conflicting hardware asset data coming in simultaneously from SCCM and Jamf, looking to see if you understand payload transforms and identification engines.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just list ServiceNow as a generic skill, but explicitly highlights your hands-on work with SAM Pro, HAM Pro, and complex CMDB integrations. Mirror keywords from the job description like 'Flow Designer', 'Identification and Reconciliation (IRE)', 'normalization', and 'publisher packs' to breeze past the automated screen and show the engineering team you've actually built enterprise-grade ITAM solutions before.
