Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on content engineering role focused on building out robust Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and data protection capabilities from scratch. Rather than just keeping the lights on, you'll be actively designing and tuning security controls across major enterprise channels in a heavily regulated environment.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around configuring, testing, and deploying data protection policies using tools like Symantec, Purview, or Zscaler. You won't just push changes live; you will navigate strict change management processes—running implementations through QA environments, documenting every design decision to ensure it's fully defensible, and collaborating with operations to mitigate real-world data exfiltration risks.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, practical familiarity with enterprise DLP platforms (Symantec, Microsoft Purview, Zscaler, Proofpoint, or Island Browser) and a solid grasp of CASB and DSPM concepts. The team is also piloting modern tooling like BigID and Cyera, so having exposure to data security posture management will definitely set you apart.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring managers to test your practical knowledge of policy tuning by asking how you would handle a scenario where a newly deployed DLP rule causes high false positives and blocks legitimate business traffic. They want to see your troubleshooting methodology, how you balance security with productivity, and how you approach QA testing before pushing changes to production. Another common line of questioning will focus on how you document your policy logic to satisfy strict regulatory compliance audits.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, make sure to explicitly highlight your experience with policy authoring and tuning rather than just high-level security management. Keywords like "Data Loss Prevention," "Symantec," "Purview," "Change Management," and "CASB/DSPM" need to be front and center to clear the automated screening tools. Frame your past achievements around how you successfully minimized data exfiltration while keeping business operations friction-free.
