Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on Vendor Management Analyst role where you will act as the go-to data engine for a VMO team, migrating messy spreadsheet data into structured systems and building out automated workflows. If you enjoy deep-dive data investigations, catching anomalies, and turning raw procurement numbers into clean executive dashboards, this contract is right up your alley. You will also get to mentor junior apprentices while owning the reporting pipeline from end to end.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be split between crunching numbers and optimizing processes. You'll spend significant time in Excel, Power BI, and DBeaver extracting data from SAP and SAP Ariba to build spend, forecasting, and savings dashboards. You'll also hunt down financial discrepancies across multiple systems, run fraud investigations on supplier data, and map out repetitive manual tasks so you can wipe them out using Microsoft Power Automate. Expect to interface directly with suppliers and cross-functional internal stakeholders while mentoring a junior data analyst and a junior automation specialist.
The Core Tech Stack
You need to live and breathe advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI because leadership expects crystal-clear dashboards yesterday. SAP and SAP Ariba experience combined with DBeaver is critical for pulling raw financial datasets out of enterprise systems. Finally, solid Microsoft Power Automate skills are non-negotiable since a huge part of this gig involves looking at manual team processes and architecting automated workflows to replace them.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to hand you a scenario involving mismatched financial data from two separate procurement systems and ask you to walk them through your exact reconciliation process. They are secretly testing your obsessive attention to detail and your ability to spot anomalies that others miss. You'll also likely be asked to whiteboard a workflow automation challenge where they want to see how you identify manual bottlenecks and translate them into a streamlined Power Automate solution.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, make sure your experience with SAP Ariba, Power BI, and Power Automate takes center stage right at the top. Don't just list tools; explicitly highlight projects where you migrated data from spreadsheets into an application or built automated workflows that saved hours of manual effort. Weave in keywords like spend analysis, KPI reporting, and data reconciliation to easily pass the ATS screening.
