Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-lifting 12-month contract role for someone who truly understands Property & Casualty insurance and isn't afraid to dive deep into messy data migrations. You will be stepping in to help implement a brand-new policy administration system, which means cleaning up legacy data issues and building tracking mechanisms from scratch. It is an onsite gig requiring 4 days a week in Woodbridge, NJ, so expect a hybrid-onsite rhythm with a final in-person interview.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days wrangling incoming policy data, tracking down data defects, and seeing them through to complete resolution. Your time will be split between hands-on SQL query writing for testing and analysis, helping developers untangle complex data structures, and logging issues in a defect tracking tool. Because this is a leadership role, you won't just be executing tasks; you'll be taking total ownership of the data quality lifecycle for a massive policy admin overhaul.

The Core Tech Stack

Advanced SQL is non-negotiable here—you need to write complex queries effortlessly to assist users and test data transformations across relational databases like SQL Server and DB2. Experience with Snowflake and cloud technologies is a major plus, as is any prior background working with statutory and compliance-related reporting in the insurance space. Since you're dealing with a brand-new policy administration system rollout, having domain knowledge in P&C insurance workflows is just as critical as your technical horsepower.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to grill you on how you handle data discrepancies and bad data coming out of legacy systems into a new platform. They'll likely ask you to walk through a time you had to track a complex defect from identification to final resolution while collaborating with multiple engineering teams. They aren't just testing your SQL syntax; they are evaluating your energy, confidence, and leadership presence to see if you have the backbone to push back on bad data practices and drive the project forward.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream P&C insurance and complex data migration immediately. Do not just list generic analytics skills; explicitly highlight your experience with policy administration systems, data mapping, and transforming messy relational data. Sprinkle in keywords like defect tracking, Snowflake, SQL Server, and SDLC, but frame your bullet points around leadership and ownership rather than just passive participation.
