Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting functional role where you'll own the Workday Financial Management modules from end to end. If you enjoy untangling messy financial workflows and translating complex accounting requirements into clean system configurations, this is a solid gig.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days acting as the primary bridge between finance stakeholders and technical system designs. Your main focus will be driving core financial transformations, specifically optimizing the Record-to-Report and Procure-to-Pay workstreams. You'll be troubleshooting period close bottlenecks, refining General Ledger structures, updating security matrices, and making sure Accounts Payable and Procurement run without a hitch.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, hands-on fluency in Workday Financials, particularly within the R2R and P2P cycles. Beyond just clicking around the UI, you've got to be extremely comfortable building complex calculated fields, custom Workday reports, and tight business process configurations. Having an active Workday Financials certification will definitely fast-track your credibility here.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your deep functional knowledge with situational questions, like how you would troubleshoot a broken period-close business process or optimize an overly complex procurement routing workflow. They are secretly looking for someone who doesn't just know the Workday configuration UI, but actually understands the underlying accounting principles and operational pain points that finance teams face daily.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your experience with Workday Financials, Record-to-Report, and Procure-to-Pay. Don't just list generic ERP tasks—call out specific achievements involving calculated fields, business process frameworks, and custom reporting that directly impacted a finance team's efficiency.
