Associate Engineering Technician

Genesis10

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on technical support role embedded in a clean room environment for a major medical technology company. You will be working directly alongside R&D engineers to physically build and test medical device prototypes, making it a great gig if you prefer working with your hands rather than just staring at a screen all day.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around assembling medical device prototypes following strict design plans and engineering instructions. You'll spend a good chunk of time testing these builds, meticulously documenting your results, and making sure everything complies with GLP and Quality System requirements. Beyond the workbench, you'll coordinate with external vendors to source supplies, keep project engineers updated on your build statuses, and eventually train others on new assembly processes once you get your bearings.

The Core Tech Stack

This isn't about software frameworks; your core toolkit here is physical. You need a solid foundation in bench fixturing and tooling design because you'll be doing a lot of tactile prototyping. Experience working in a regulated clean room and familiarity with medical device development processes (specifically GLP and quality documentation standards) are absolute must-haves to keep you from getting lost in the compliance weeds.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to ask you to walk through a time you had to troubleshoot a physical prototype build that wasn't performing to spec; they want to hear about your analytical breakdown and problem-solving methodology. You'll also likely face scenario-based questions about quality control, specifically how you handle documenting discrepancies or deviations when testing under strict regulatory frameworks.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume strongly highlights any hands-on mechanical assembly, clean room experience, or bench fixturing work you've done in the past. Weave in exact terms from the job description like 'GLP compliance', 'prototyping', and 'quality system requirements' so your resume easily clears the automated ATS filters before a human recruiter ever lays eyes on it.
