Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting 3-month contract for a Senior Cloud Security Architect who knows how to navigate both complex multi-cloud environments and government sector red tape. You will be stepping into a hybrid role based out of Trenton, NJ, requiring three days onsite to drive cloud security posture improvements, governance frameworks, and DevSecOps integrations. If you don't possess both the AWS Certified Security Specialty and the CCSP, don't bother applying—they are non-negotiable hard requirements.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days acting as the primary security authority, designing enterprise-grade cloud security standards across AWS and Azure while assessing current vulnerabilities and gaps. A massive chunk of your time will go toward developing a workable DevSecOps roadmap that actually bakes security into the CI/CD pipeline without bringing development to a grinding halt. You'll also be heavily involved in stakeholder management, mentoring internal engineering teams, and writing up the governance frameworks and compliance documentation required in a public sector environment.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery over multi-cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure, backed by deep architectural understanding of IAM, cloud monitoring, and threat detection. Critical to this gig is your hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines—meaning you aren't just talking about security theory, you know how to integrate static and dynamic analysis tools directly into automated workflows. Familiarity with state or local government compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements will make or break your success here.
Interview Expectations
Expect them to grill you on how you handle friction between rapid software deployment and strict government security compliance. They'll likely ask you to walk through a time you retrofitted a security framework into an already-scaling multi-cloud architecture without killing developer velocity. The hiring manager is hunting for someone who can balance high-level strategic governance with practical, boots-on-the-ground engineering solutions, so be prepared to talk specifics on how you implement automated guardrails in AWS and Azure.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to make it past automated filters by explicitly featuring your exact certification titles: AWS Certified Security Specialty (SCS-C03) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) right at the top. Don't just list your technical skills; weave a clear narrative around your 10+ years of experience, highlighting specific achievements where you successfully led DevSecOps integrations and navigated state or local government compliance. If you've got AZ-500 or CISSP as well, spell them out clearly to stand out from the crowd.
