Job Description & Details
This is a unique hybrid role bridging creative communications and complex technical documentation for a large-scale Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). You will be juggling everything from high-level federal compliance paperwork and UX wireframing to graphic design and SharePoint governance.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect your weeks to be heavily cross-functional. You might spend Monday collaborating with the MIS development team on UI/UX improvements to make application screens more intuitive, Tuesday writing federal Advanced Planning Documents (APDs) for the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), and Wednesday designing infographics or leading a statewide document scanning initiative. You are the translation layer between dense system architectures, non-technical stakeholders, and federal regulators.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep fluency in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) for visual collateral, alongside robust technical writing frameworks and document repositories like SharePoint, Confluence, and Smartsheet. Because this role touches CCWIS federal compliance and UX design, familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and wireframing tools like Lucidchart will make or break your ability to deliver compliant, user-friendly artifacts.
Interview Expectations
The hiring panel will likely ask you to explain how you translate complex, highly technical system architectures into plain-language documentation for federal auditors. They are looking for your ability to structure information logically and defend your design choices against strict regulatory guidelines. Another common probe will be about managing competing priorities—expect a scenario where urgent creative requests clash with rigid federal compliance deadlines, and they want to see your project management workflow in action.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to heavily feature quantifiable keywords from the job description like CCWIS, APD, WCAG, and technical governance, but don't just list them. Write narrative bullet points showing how your documentation directly influenced federal funding approval or streamlined system deployments. Highlight your dual capability in both creative design and heavy technical writing so the ATS immediately catches your rare blend of artistic and analytical skills.
