Program Assistant II

Job Description & Details

This Program Assistant II role puts you right at the intersection of customer operations and technical support for critical energy programs. You will be managing the moving parts of Demand Response initiatives, keeping things running smoothly when the power grid gets stressed during peak events. It is a solid contract gig for someone who enjoys hands-on program administration and working directly with stakeholders.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will involve acting as the main point of contact for program participants and aggregators, walking them through enrollment and handling their questions. You will also spend a good chunk of time troubleshooting database discrepancies, writing up detailed incident tickets, and working directly with IT teams to get technical blockers sorted out. Beyond that, you will keep the procedural documentation accurate and help pull together the regular reporting needed to keep stakeholders happy.

The Core Tech Stack

While there is no heavy coding here, you need to be deeply comfortable managing complex databases, tracking spreadsheets, and utilizing ticketing systems to document technical issues. The ability to parse detailed program procedures and maintain flawless records is what will keep you afloat. If you struggle with attention to detail when juggling multiple aggregators and customer inquiries simultaneously, this role will quickly become an uphill battle.

Interview Expectations

Since this is a single panel interview with the hiring manager and two team members, expect them to test both your communication skills and your ability to handle chaos. You will likely be asked how you prioritize competing customer inquiries during a high-pressure peak demand event, and the panel is secretly listening for how calm you stay under pressure and how methodically you solve problems. They also want to see how you handle documenting technical issues for an IT team, so be ready with an example of a time you translated a confusing user problem into a clear, actionable support ticket.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS and land this interview, make sure your resume highlights administrative coordination, customer support, and any experience you have working alongside technical or IT teams. Weave in keywords like program administration, incident ticketing, stakeholder communication, and database management directly into your work history rather than hiding them in a skills section. Emphasize your track record of keeping documentation accurate and organized, as hiring managers for this team are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with minimal hand-holding.
