Principal Network Engineer - Edge & Customer Connectivity

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting architecture and governance role focused on enterprise-grade B2B connectivity and network modernization within the healthcare sector. If you enjoy owning large-scale WAN transformations, secure partner integrations, and setting the technical standard for a massive organization rather than just writing configs, this one is worth your attention.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend a good chunk of your time leading architecture reviews, approving major network initiatives, and acting as the final escalation point for brutal routing and VPN issues. Day-to-day involves designing IPsec VPNs, MPLS, and cloud connectivity, while driving automation and pushing the network infrastructure to be more resilient and scalable. You'll also be expected to mentor engineering teams and leverage enterprise-approved AI tools like GitHub Copilot to streamline your documentation and analysis workflows.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute fluency in Cisco enterprise environments—specifically ISR, ASR, Catalyst, and Nexus hardware—alongside deep expertise in BGP, IPsec/IKEv2, NAT, and VRF segmentation. Experience mingling with Arista switching, Palo Alto firewalls, and Python-based network automation is practically mandatory because you'll be bridging the gap between legacy hardware and modern, automated cloud networking in AWS and Azure.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on complex failure scenarios involving BGP path manipulation over overlapping VRFs during a massive IPsec tunnel flap; they want to see your methodical approach to root-cause analysis under pressure. You should also be ready to explain how you would architect a secure, redundant B2B connectivity model for a third-party partner with conflicting IP spaces, as the interviewer is secretly testing your ability to handle messy enterprise edge cases without breaking production.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream 'Principal' rather than 'Senior Administrator.' Make sure your experience highlights large-scale enterprise transformations, governance, and architecture decisions rather than just day-to-day ticket resolution. Explicitly weave in keywords like B2B Connectivity, IPsec / IKEv2 VPN, BGP, WAN Architecture, and Network Governance to ensure you clear the ATS filters, and emphasize any regulatory or healthcare background you possess.
