This is a standard L2 desktop support role based in Manhattan where you will be the frontline troubleshooter keeping the internal hardware and endpoint systems running. If you enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, fixing hardware glitches, and ensuring corporate devices are secure and up to date, this gig will keep you busy without the typical software-engineering burnout.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around jumping into ticket queues and resolving escalated end-user issues that Level 1 couldn't handle. You will troubleshoot stubborn operating system glitches, configure and deploy endpoint devices, and manage routine patch management cycles to ensure company compliance and security. Expect to interact directly with employees who need their workstations fixed quickly so they can get back to work.
The Core Tech Stack
To survive here, you need a solid foundation in L2 Desktop Support and endpoint management tools. Patch management experience is non-negotiable since security updates dictate the rhythm of endpoint maintenance. You should be fluent in advanced desktop troubleshooting methodologies across Windows and potentially Mac environments, knowing your way around registry fixes, hardware diagnostics, and remote assistance tools.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a scenario your way like how you would handle a critical endpoint failure right before a user's big client presentation. They want to see how you triage under pressure, communicate with non-technical staff, and whether you follow a logical troubleshooting path rather than guessing.
