Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on, long-term contractor role embedded within a major SAP S/4HANA transformation initiative. You will be the go-to person bridging the gap between Finance and technical delivery, building out the planning models, allocations, and driver-based forecasting capabilities that the FP&A team actually needs to survive. If you know your way around SAC Planning and understand how data flows from S/4HANA into financial reports, this project gives you a solid platform to make an immediate impact.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around translating complex financial requirements from business stakeholders into functional SAP Analytics Cloud planning solutions. You'll be collaborating directly with FP&A leads and system integrators to design data models, set up complex allocations, and configure scenario planning workflows. Expect to spend a good amount of time troubleshooting data integration pipelines between S/4HANA and SAC, validating output accuracy, and ensuring the business users actually adopt and understand the new tools.
The Core Tech Stack
Your bread and butter here is SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Planning, combined with a deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture. You need to be completely fluent in building data models, data actions, predictive forecasting, and advanced formulas within SAC. Because this is tied to a broader S/4HANA transformation, you also need to grasp how financial data flows across modules, meaning a solid background in accounting principles and FP&A processes is just as important as your technical configuration skills.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on your experience with complex data actions and allocations in SAC, likely asking how you handle performance bottlenecks when dealing with massive enterprise data volumes. They want to see that you can troubleshoot script logic on the fly and explain technical limitations clearly to non-technical finance stakeholders. Be ready to share a specific scenario where a forecasting model you built dramatically improved forecast accuracy or streamlined an agonizing budgeting cycle.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams SAC Planning rather than just generic SAP BI or analytics work. Highlight specific projects where you designed driver-based forecasting models, custom data actions, and integrated SAC with S/4HANA backend systems. Weave in keywords like financial budgeting, forecasting, allocations, and user adoption so your profile easily clears the automated screen and lands directly on the hiring manager's desk.
