Technical Project/Program Manager

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty, on-the-ground Technical Project Manager role based in Sunnyvale where you'll actually own the end-to-end execution of new product development initiatives. If you hate sitting in endless status meetings that go nowhere and prefer getting knee-deep in cross-functional chaos with hardware, supply chain, and engineering teams, this one will keep you busy for the next year.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days wrangling cross-functional squads—ranging from grumpy firmware engineers to stressed-out supply chain leads—through a rigid phase-gate product development process. Your real job is translating engineering roadblocks into executive-friendly updates while ruthlessly managing dependencies, risks, and milestone schedules without losing your sanity. Expect to constantly mediate scope creep and push teams toward hard launch readiness deadlines.

The Core Tech Stack

Forget code snippets; your stack here is tools like advanced project planning suites, RAID logs, and phase-gate methodologies. The hiring manager is desperate for someone who deeply understands new product introduction (NPI) lifecycles and manufacturing supply chains. You need to speak fluent engineering so you can sniff out fake progress reports and keep hardware and software milestones tightly synchronized.

Interview Expectations

Be ready to answer a behavioral question about a time a critical component was delayed two weeks before a major hardware gate, and how you managed the tradeoffs between schedule, cost, and scope. The interviewer is secretly testing your ability to influence senior directors without having direct reporting authority. They also might ask how you handle an engineering lead who completely ignores your project plan in favor of architectural purity—focus your answer on data-driven risk management rather than raw authority.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to heavily feature hard-hitting metrics around past product launches, specifically highlighting dollars saved, schedules recovered, or complex phase-gate transitions managed. Make sure keywords like 'end-to-end program execution,' 'phase-gate,' 'risk management,' and 'cross-functional alignment' are plastered across your experience section to comfortably clear their automated ATS filters.
