Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on, onsite 18-month contract role supporting the New Capital Investment (NCI) team in Mossville, IL. You'll be right in the thick of heavy manufacturing operations, wrangling data and tracking roughly 80 active NCI projects for the Large Power Systems Division. If you like seeing the tangible results of your project planning in a traditional engineering environment, this gig offers plenty of runway with strong potential for extensions.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be a mix of tactical project tracking, data extraction, and cross-functional coordination. You'll spend a solid chunk of time data mining and pulling metrics using Excel and Power BI to build out executive summaries for leadership. Aside from staring at dashboards, you'll be facilitating planning meetings, updating project statuses based on engineering and manufacturing feedback, and keeping ~80 active capital projects moving forward without stalling out.

The Core Tech Stack

Excel and Power BI are your absolute bread and butter here. You won't be writing code, but you need to be dangerous with data extraction, pivot tables, and visualization tools because leadership relies on these reports to make high-stakes capital decisions. A solid grasp of MS Office tools like MS Project and Visio is also mandatory for mapping out workflows and schedules in this fast-paced manufacturing office.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to drill down into your experience handling multiple concurrent projects in a heavy industrial or engineering environment. They'll likely ask you to describe a time when project scope shifted dramatically and how you communicated that upward to key stakeholders. They are secretly looking for clear, concise executive communication—can you translate messy technical details into a simple, actionable status report without losing the core message?

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just read like a list of generic PM tasks; highlight your actual experience pulling data and building reports in Power BI and advanced Excel. Sprinkle in keywords from the description like 'New Capital Investment', 'executive summaries', 'cross-functional collaboration', and 'resource allocation' so you easily clear the initial ATS screening before a human reviews your project portfolio.
