Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty infrastructure administration gig rather than a basic workflow-configuration role, focusing entirely on keeping critical patient and clinician platforms online. You will be managing the server-side architecture for a major healthcare system, making your ability to troubleshoot complex web and server connectivity issues the key to your success here. If you know your way around hospital IT ecosystems and like keeping mission-critical systems humming, this 12-month contract offers a solid runway.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in Hyperspace Web (HSW), Interconnect, and MyChart server environments, making sure deployments run smoothly and service interruptions are handled fast. You will partner constantly with application analysts, networking teams, and security folks to coordinate certificate renewals, load-balancer changes, and DNS dependencies. A big part of the grind involves deploying updates safely across environments, writing solid rollback procedures, and automating repetitive operational checks with PowerShell so you aren't waking up at 3 AM for preventable issues.
The Core Tech Stack
An active Epic ECSA certification covering HSW and Interconnect is non-negotiable here, alongside deep, production-level expertise with Windows Server and Internet Information Services (IIS). You need a strong grasp of underlying web fundamentals like TLS certificates, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and load balancing concepts—F5 BIG-IP experience is a massive plus. Because you'll be debugging everything from authentication bottlenecks to endpoint failures, being fluent in Active Directory, virtualization, and PowerShell scripting will separate you from the pack.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a scenario at you where MyChart web servers are intermittently dropping connections right after a routine IIS and TLS certificate update, asking you how you'd methodically isolate whether the issue lies in the load balancer, application pool, or network layer. They are secretly testing your ability to communicate calmly under pressure and methodically triage issues without blindly guessing. You'll also likely be grilled on how you manage change control in a strict hospital environment where downtime directly impacts patient care.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to scream infrastructure administration rather than generic application support, so make sure to explicitly highlight your hands-on work with Windows Server, IIS, and load balancing alongside your Epic ECSA credentials. Lead with your exact years of hospital environment experience and call out specific tools like PowerShell or F5 if you've used them to automate deployments or streamline server health checks. Match the exact terminology from the job description like 'Interconnect deployments', 'HSW server environments', and 'MyChart infrastructure' to ensure you breeze past the initial ATS filters.
